For younger, healthier people, CPR can be life-saving. For these people, it can restore a quality of life similar to before their heart stopped. For all age groups, approximately 1 out of 4 people (25%) undergoing CPR will survive to leave the hospital. (N Engl J Med 2012; 367:1912-1920)
